The main port of Zante is located in the town of Zakynthos. During the day there are several ferries connecting Zante with Kilini (Kyllini) in the Greek mainland. Occasionally there are ferries also connecting Zante island with Bari – Italy, and other destinations in Greece, such as Igoumenitsa, Corfu island (Kerkira), Kithira island, and Sami in Kefalonia island.
Furthermore, during summer, usually, there is a daily connection between Zante (Zakynthos) and Kefalonia island.
Zante international airport is located close to Kalamaki, on the south side of the island. It’s only 4.3km away from the town of Zakynthos and just 1km from Laganas. But there are always taxis waiting outside the terminal, and plenty of cars and motorbike rental companies to choose from. The official name of the airport is “Dionysios Solomos” and it’s IATA code is ZTH. It’s the 6th busiest airport in Greece, and during high season, every day there are decades of scheduled and charter flights. However, due to the endangered loggerhead turtles – “Caretta caretta” – which lay their eggs on the nearby beaches, planes are not permitted to land or depart after midnight and for the whole night.
